Facilities

___

At AAU Racing, we strive to have a good workshop with all the necessary tools to build our cars as much in-house as possible. Additionally, our highest priority for the workshop is to provide a safe and healthy enviorment for our members working on mechanical components and especially high-voltage systems.

Workshop

Our workshop at Fibigerstræde 14 is our main workshop for producing, assembling, and maintaining our racecars. The vast amount of tools exist here like manual tools, Mill, Lathe, drill press, welding equipment, and more.

We focus on building as much of the cars ourself, which mainly takes place here.

High-Voltage Container

As part of our transition to electric race cars, a lot of the focus has been on safety around the new high-voltage systems. We have therefore build a high-voltage container which enables a safe space for working on, maintaing, chargeing, and storing the batteries. The container is placed isolated from any buildings in case of fire and a "stigrør" to flood the container in case of fire is installed. Additionally, the floor and workareas are covered in rubber to isolate the high-voltage systems.

This results in a safe space for the students working on the battery and learning how to handle high-voltage systems.

Driver Simulator

For training our drivers on the actual tracks they will drive on, we teamed up with Asetek Racing to rebuild our G8 car as a simracer using their sim racing equipment. The G8 car is fitted with the Forte Direct Drive Wheelbase, La Prima Pedals, and the Forte Formula Steering Wheel. Along with Assetto Corsa and an Oculus Rift 2, it provides an immersive driving experience for the drivers, enabling them to perfect their driving skills and learning the tracks layout.

CNC Mill

As part of our strive to produce as much of our race cars in-house as possible, the team is always striving to improve and expand the available tools. As part of this, the team have a Frislev CNC Berta 1500 CNC Mill, for producing moulds for wings and bodywork, plastic components for the TSAC, aluminium part, and much more. This enables students to learn the production side of getting their components made, the challenges and limitations of production, and in the end building better engineers.
